The effects of group art play activities on young children's creativity

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate to examine the effects of the group art activity on promoting the creativity of the early childhood. The subjects of the study were chosen from ages 6 to 7 of Y-kindergarten in K-city with the consent for participations submitted by the parents who have agreed to the purpose of the group art activity program. The program was conducted for ten 60-minutes sessions per week and two observers had joined the researcher. The Comprehensive Creativity Test for Young Children which was conducted before and after a week of the program to explore the changes of the children¡¯s creativity and to test its effectiveness. The result showed that the group art activity was effective on promoting the children's creativity. It could be concluded that as the young children can build up their creativity by the group art activity, they could also develop the proactive attitudes of discovering and solving the problems on their own.
